Take Two… Stampendous Daisy!

Published by Julia Stainton at 1:45 pm under Card Designs, Challenges

Another Take Two challenge with my friends. I’m really late on this one. :( When it rains, it pours! My oldest son who is 16 was out early this morning cycling. He had just finished 33 km and was almost home when a car hit his shoulder with the side mirror and knocked him down. A hit and run. He made it to the high school which was not too far away. Thankfully the teachers were there, still marking exams. They called the Police and then myself. I’ve spent the past 6 hours getting it straightened out and sitting with him in the ER. He is now covered with road rash and a lot of swelling but we are so thankful nothing was broken. His new bike helmet was cracked in the accident. We are so thankful he was wearing it.

And so, I’m just now getting around to typing up this card design I made yesterday. The Take Two challenge this time was to use Stampendous stamps with Daisy D’s patterned paper. Oh so fun! I adore the few Stampendous stamps I own, and my favorite is these poppies. Jacksonbelle also got in a huge selection of Daisy D’s paper. I love it so much, I had to buy one of each. It was a real difficult choice deciding which ones to pick for this design, let me tell you! As always, I’m amazed at the different looks we have all achieved with a similar product. So fun! Make sure that you check out Lindsey, Michele & Trudee’s blogs for their fabulous designs!

Poppy Wishes

For this design, I stamped directly onto the pink patterned paper and lightly watercolored it. The Best Wishes sentiment is actually a partial sentiment….I omitted the rest of it and have stamped it on the inside. It just naturally worked well that way. Now the T may not make sense to you until I tell you this is a birthday card for a good friend of mine. Her first initial is T. This monogram comes as part of the Daisy D’s Baby Girl patterned paper kit. The monograms and papers are gorgeous…perfect for a baby girl but perfect for any girl, of any age, IMHO. :) To finish up, I added some of my stitching and a little sponging, a favorite Cherry Blossoms Prima and a little ribbon. Sure hope she likes it! Happy Birthday, T! :)

Supply List:

Cardstock: Purely Pomegranate, Whisper White - Stampin Up

Patterned Paper: Baby Girl - Daisy D’s

Stamps: Poppies - Stampendous, sentiment - Penny Black

Ink: Close to Cocoa, Purely Pomegranate, Old Olive - Stampin Up, Palette Noir Hybrid - Stewart

Other: Cherry Blossom flower - Prima, sewing machine, black embossing powder - Stampendous, ribbon - Michael’s, Thumbtack Brad - Karen Foster Design

Oh my goodness! I’m so glad your son is okay. I really hope they find the driver. A family friend of ours lost their daugther while she was out jogging last year to a hit-and-run driver. The police think by looking at the skip marks that the driver actually stopped and got out, but then decided to drive off leaving her in a ditch for the next 24 hours. Sadly, the driver is still out there.

I love your take on this Take Two challenge. It’s a gorgeous card.

Sorry to hear about your day, Julia - I feel so badly for you and your son. Things will turn around for you, I know they will.

I find it unbelievable how some people handle situations such as these. Almost a year ago now, we lost a little boy from our community to the same situation although he was not wearing a helmet - apparently it was a van full of teenagers, but no one fessed up.

I just pray that the driver will have an attack of conscience and will admit to the accident. How awful for your son, but doubly awful that this driver is not taking responsibility for his/her actions.

    You’re in my thoughts.

So thankful that your son was spared any more serious injuries and pray he will recover quickly. (8 months later I am still on that road to recovery after being hit by a car as a pedestrian). You and he will be in my prayers.
Again you inspire me with your beautiful card.

Oh, it’s so pretty, Julia! Yes! I have all this paper. Love what you did with it and how you stamped and watercolored directly on the pink piece. It’s cute, fun and pretty all rolled into one!

Gorgeous card Julia. I’m so glad your son is ok and was wearing his bike helmet. I need him to talk to my DD who tries to get out of wearing hers a lot.

Oh Julia! I’m so glad to hear that your son is OK. Things like this are a mothers worst nightmare. I’m just thankful that he’s OK.

Your card is just beautiful! I know that Trudee will absolutely love it! I made her a card too (it’s posted on my blog). Is your birthday posted anywhere? I like to send my idols birthday cards when I can remember. ;-)
