Almost Two! & a Little Monkey Business…
I just can’t believe how fast the past two years have flown by. Joshua will be TWO on Thursday the 31st. He is such a little darling, but such a little rascal too! His dad gave him a haircut last week and he looks so much older…sniff, sniff. Super cute but I know my baby is growing up.
This is a card I made for his birthday. He and Benjamin love reading Curious George together, climbing and getting into mischief too! When I saw this darling monkey paper and sticker line…I just had to make a card for him with it. I know he’ll love it. He loves cards for some reason. I have to be quite careful not to leave any design work where he can get his hands on it as he likes to inspect my work!
Inside: Happy Birthday to my Little [Wild One]
For this card, I was focusing on the patterned paper….lots of inking and I sanded the stickers, but very little stamping. I found the darling little sentiment from Love Ya Bunches and thought it would work perfectly with this card. I added it to the inside sentiment which I printed off on my computer.
Quick Tip: Sand or ink stickers to add interest and texture to them. I am not a huge sticker fan but they can be fun and easy, and with a little altering, work really well.
There were so many circular and rounded shapes on the patterned paper that I played off that feature for my layout. For some fun texture, I layered the elements over some frayed twill and attached it with eyelets set with my Crop-a-dile.

Such a darling card and I’m sure he’ll love it! I know how you feel about the baby growing up….my youngest is 3 1/2 and I sometimes feel sad thinking how quickly he’s growing up too.
Thanks for sharing!
Chris
My children are grown & gone now, but I look back on those years & treasure them. They flew by all too soon! This is a sweet, sweet card & I know your little one will love it! Mine loved curious George when they were that age too.
Your little guy is ADORABLE! Great card - I’m sure he will love it.
Julia-I adore your monkey card, it is absolutely a blast! I’m sure he’ll love it if he’s so into your cards! Happy birthday to him–mine is today, such a great month to have a birthday in! He is so cute!

I can’t believe that this post almost made me tear up…. I’m usually not like that… I think it was the “haircut that made him look older” thing. My oldest is turning 4 in June, and I just remember the day so vividly when we had to take him to get his baby curls cut off (they were hanging in his eyes and making his neck too sweaty)… and it seemed like *poof* my little baby was gone… now my youngest (2.5) has had his first couple haircuts, too… guess they do have to grow up, huh…
OMG.. that was horribly sappy! I’m SO sorry… But the bright side of all of it is, they are so much fun, and it is SO SO exciting to watch them grow and learn and become such interesting little people (not that they aren’t ALWAYS interesting, but you know what I’m getting at…
Thanks for sharing this post… good for me to remember the quickness of time sometimes…
Awesome card, too - he’s going to love it so much it might end up in pieces!
(at least that’s what happens to the “loved” cards in my house! LOL!)

Your little monkey is so sweet looking! Love the card you made just for him. Make sure you keep it in a safe spot, he will treasure it again when he is older!
Your son is adorable, he looks like a sweetie! The card is perfect, I’d love to see his reaction…maybe you’ll have a chance to post a photo of him seeing it for the first time.
My baby son is 33 and I remember his first hair cut like it was yesterday, LOL and TFS..
Awww…Joshua is so cute, J! Adorable card too! I like how you frayed the end of the twill.
This card is adorable! And so is your little man! Happy Birthday!
Your little boy is such a cutie pie!! I remember when my boys got their first haircuts because I did the dirty deeds….oh the guilt of a mother!! haha

I made a Monkey card for my son last year for his birthday. What is it about likening little boys to monkeys?
Now, when I call my youngest ‘my favorite little monkey’ he tells me “I’m not a monkey mom, I’m a BOY”! LOL!
