Sweet & Simple

This is the last frame I created for my Craft Critique Provocraft Frame Article. I wanted to design this frame to be pretty but very simple and easy to do for the beginning crafter. Not everyone has the time or experience to take on a larger project and this frame makes a great gift, is fun to make (I had fun anyway), as well as being very quick for a busy crafter. Also, I think, sometimes we tend to make things more complitcated than they really need to be. I’m guilty of that myself!

Simple Baby Frame

I love these beadboard frames by Provocraft. They are so pretty! You really don’t need to add much at all! In fact, I designed and made this altered frame in less than fifteen minutes. I was actually going to go with more of a wedding theme for this frame but I had just brought home more goodies from the new K&Company line that had just been shelved at Michael’s. I couldn’t resist these darling little pre-patterned and glittered chipboard pieces. They even come in the cutest little box! When I bought them I didn’t have an immediate project in mind for them until I brought them home and realized they would work perfectly for this frame. I spelled out the name SARAH for the bottom of the design and adhered the letters with glue dots. A darling little elphant was placed at the beginning of the name and I added one of my brand new Doodlebug gem stickers for its eye. I then added a darling little Prima flower from the Prima Essentials Baby Girl Collection and added another little pink gem to it.

In my very snarled up ribbon drawer (honestly! I need some kind of a better ribbon solution and soon!) I found this beautiful wide celery grosgrain ribbon. Perfect for what I needed. I’d been having a hard time using it up as it is a little large to work with on a card, but worked wonderfully with the frame! In between the celery, I tied a piece of pink dotted organdy. I also tied a piece through the tag (also part of the chipboard set) that I had added anther gemstone to, and then pinned the two together with a tiny safety pin. I think it is darling! You can see all the glitter on the letters so much better in person…I just have to keep coming back to look at it! LOL

Julia - that is darling and so simple too - one quick question - was the tag part of the chipboard set too? Or did you make that? This would be such a great baby gift; two of my coworkers are having babies this month and I’m thinking a trip to Michael’s to pick up some frames and chipboard is in order!! I already have plenty of ribbon and tiny pastel-colored safety pins!
Thanks for sharing another beautiful creation!!

This is so pretty! I just love how it all came together. I like how you’ve given us different examples with different degrees of complexity. They’re all wonderful!

I think I might like this one the best! Good for me. It’s probably the only one I could duplicate. I love the colors and bunch of ribbon.
