Papertrey Meets Basic Grey

Published by Julia Stainton at 2:01 pm under Card Designs, Challenges

One again, a few of my friends and I have “gotten together” to bring you a little challenge. One stamp set, one paper line and three designers. We’ve each had some fun over the past day with our new Papertrey Ink sets and for this challenge we are featuring the Butterfly Wishes set. We’ve also been wanting to use Basic Grey’s fabulous new Stella Ruby paper line…a personal fave of at least two of us! I’ll tell you more about my card below in the following paragraph. As I type this, I’m just dying to see what the girls have come up with! You’ll find their cards for this challenge on their blogs… Follow Your Bliss by Trudee Sauer & Embellished by Jacksonbelle (Lindsey Botkin)! For my card I actually went with my second try. The first I’ll post on Friday but for today…the second. I started out with my 6×6 pack of Stella Ruby paper. I love the scaled down size of the these paper pads…perfect for cards! While I was flipping through it, I came across this beautiful sage, saffron & black paper with just a hint of aqua in it. I loved the vintage look and I thought the color scheme would work well with the paisley butterflies…a sort of vintage/retro look. Also a fun change from yesterday’s very clean, minimilistic style card. Butterflies were stamped with black ink and then stamped with the solid butterfly stamp in Cool Caribbean and Sage Shadow. The edges of the cardstock on all layers were sponged with SU’s Close to Cocoa ink. The sentiment was stamped with Versamark and then embossed with black embossing powder. I added a quick little bit of stitching to the top of the card…I think I covered most of it up unfortunately but too the sewing theme as this paper has a garment sewing pattern on it and also added the silver button brad from K & Company to carry on the theme. The Prima is once again from the Prima Essentials Lucid Collection  and I bought both the Primas and my Basic Grey paper from Jacksonbelle Embellishments. I’m also just loving this May Arts ribbon…you’ll see if popping up in a lot of my designs! I bought it from Sweet Miss Daisy at Sweet and Sassy Crafts.

Supply List:

Cardstock: Kraft, Whisper White, Black, Sage Shadow

Patterned paper: Stella Ruby 6×6 paper pack - Basic Grey

Stamps: Butterfly Wishes - Papertrey Ink

Ink: Black, Sage Shadow, Close to Cocoa, Cool Caribbean, So Saffron - SU

Other; Ribbon - May Arts, Prima Essentials Lucid Collection flower - Prima, Black embossing poweder, button brad - K& Company, sewing machine
