Big, Deep Breaths…

Published by Julia Stainton at 7:04 pm under Card Designs

It has really been one of those days! Of course, these days happen often with a large family, but this one leaves me with a serious need for chocolate! Lucky me…my aunt went to the British Shoppe and bought me my favorite for my birthday. I just love the Cadbury’s Flake and they are now only made in the UK. I’ve been safely hiding it away until now, yumm… Back to my day….cranky baby and then the power went out all day. And I mean ALL day. No computer, no laundry, no nothing….not even any water as we’re on a well! Not pretty. Add to that a deadline I’ve worked really hard on and no way to submit! I tell you, my nerves were on end. I’m happy to say that finally the power has come back on and my keyboard (that also glitched today) is now fixed, so here I am! Suffice it to say, I didn’t have time to make a card to share with you today but I did come across this one that I somehow forgot to upload. Thanks for stopping by! And many thanks for all the birthday wishes! If you are still waiting to hear from me, I’m sorry! I couldn’t get back to you today & I’m exhausted tonight. Tomorrow morning my 4 year has an EKG and my mom starts her third round of chemo. Please bear with me, I’ll get back to you as soon as I can!

I made this card with some lovely images someone was kind enough to share with me. I decided to go with a distressed vintage look for this card. The background was stamped with SU’s Linen background stamp and then the edges inked directly with the ink pad. I pulled the checkerboard look from the image and made a little block panel down the left side. I thought the red polka dot ribbon went well with the color scheme and added a little fun to the design.

Wishing you a brighter day tomorrow!

I love flakes too! We bought a few back from our trip to England last July and ate 1 every few months. Too bad I don’t have any left to send you! I love the 99 - ice cream with a flake in it! :)

That is a bummer kind of day! I know what it is like with no power etc. We had terrible windstorms on the coast of BC last fall. We were out for 3 going on 4 days! How do we live without all this technology? *lol*
Ohhhhhh Flake mmmmmmm. I used to be able to buy those at our local Superstore along with Tizer (pop). I am a first generation Canadian so British candy is my FAV!!!!
Hugs to you for you and your 4 year old going for the EKG…and to your mom too!
Love your card…but hey don’t worry about us out here…we just want things to get better for you!
    Cheers,
    Alli

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
    SUPER card…you are so creative.
I’m sorry you had such a bummer of a day, it sounds as though it was REALLY lousy.
I’ll keep you and your family in my prayers. My dad is going through chemo for the second time and he’s 85 years old. He’s quite a trooper.

What a lovely card! Thank you for finding the time to share something with your readers even as you juggle all those other responsibilities with your loved ones. And no power - what a pain! We are on a well too so I know what you’re talking about.

I’ll be keeping you and your family in my prayers.

Praying for you today and sorry to hear you had such a bad one yesterday. Don’t worry about anything else right now - your family is what is important.

Don’t worry about blogging everyday! I’m a subscriber so as soon as you post anything I’m over here checking it out.

I totally understand about the chocolate. I like DOVE minis and keep them hidden in my laundry room. If I’m going to do laundry I’m going to get paid for it…in chocolate!

Hope you have a better day today!
