Bloomin wonderful!

Published by Julia Stainton at 10:35 am under Card Designs, Challenges

More flowers!!! I just adore flowers! They are so pretty, so flexible, I can make almost any type of card wtih flowers. I just ADORE this new Stampendous flower! So big, so bold, so fun, so gorgeous! I needed a quick bridal shower card last night and I just had to use my new stamp. I also had this piece of Basic Grey Romani paper on my desk and thought it would pair up with the stamp for a fresh, fun combo. I just love the new Basic Grey 6×6 pads…SO fabulous for cardmaking…the prints are all scaled down and they are so easy to store! I bought mine from Jacksonbelle…you know how much I love that store! I pulled the Sage Shadow and Almost Amethyst color combo from the designer paper and paired it up with whisper White and Kraft cardstock…my new spring favorites! The flower is stamped onto the white cardstock and watercolored with ink pressed into the lids of my ink pads. After drying, I used Crystal Effects dotted onto the tips of the flower stamens and sprinkled it with clear microbeads for a little touch of “special”. The Kraft cardstock is rolled with Stampin Up’s Bouquet Stampin Around wheel in white craft ink and then the edges inked with white craft as well. I stitched the matted layer on my sewing machine  before adhering to the paper for a little extra emphasis on the frame. Sentiment is embossed in black embossing powder and I added a little Making Memories gem for fun and to dress it up just a little more.

Happy Life

This card is also doing double duty for today’s Ways to Use it Challenge that I post every Thursday on Splitcoaststampers.com Today’s challenge is to use your new or never before inked stamps on a card or project. If you’d like to play along, we’d love to have you join in! Check it out here! This is the first time I’ve used both of these stamps…my new flower one from Stampendous, but also my Happy Everything from Stampin up. I’ve had this set unmounted for weeks! So glad that I finally got around to using it!

Quick Tip: To apply small dots of crystal effects or other dimensional glaze or glue…dab on with a toothpick or other fine instrument. I actually used a needle and then cleaned it off well. My crystal Effects nib had clogged and I had to cut a huge hole to dispense it. This forced me to think up other ways of applying it. Works great!

Absolutely beautiful Julia! Love the soft purple of the flower (purple is my absolute favorite color) against tht beautiful patterned paper. I need to do today’s challenge too…I have this flower and have yet to ink it up…sigh…just not enough hours in the day to do everything I want to do.

    TFS!

Yep, Julia…this is definitely a WINNER! Love the color combo and that flower is gorgeous and I love the idea of the CE on the stamens with micro beads added…now that, I am going to try myself! Thanks for sharing.

Julia this card is so pretty; I need to take a lesson from you and be brave about combining colors! I would have been afraid to use the craft base and dark ribbon with the lighter DP but here’s evidence of how great they can look all together! Thanks for that!

THis card is beautiful. I LOVE that flower stamp, you did such a good job using it! The soft, subtle look of the colors marries well with the LO.

Beautiful! I love that flower but haven’t bought it yet! Trying to resist but know I won’t when I go back to the stamp store (if they still have it)!
